budget subwoofers

what are some popular budget subwoofers? I am leaning towards some kicker comp subs, but there are quite a few others around the same price. I know there are people that have been in this situation, what did u decide to go with? There is a trade center near my house that I can get some subs from for fairly cheap, but i am not really sure how much i trust them. please throw out some suggestions.
