Budget SQ pt. 2

So I've done a lot of reading, and general consensus seems to be that if you have a good set of components, you don't need rear fill, especially in a small car (like my civic). With that said, how's this look?

RSD 6.5" Components

RSD 12" Sub

Alpine MRP-F300 4 Channel Amp OR PDX-2.150

Alpine MRP-M500 Mono Amp

Alpine CDA-9884 HU

Would it be better to run that 4-channel amp bridged or get a 2-channel amp like the PDX? Also, should I just run the stock rear speakers off the HU or not at all?

A decent sized 2 channel will be better in the long run. The bridged 4 channel might have a tendency to run a bit on the warm side.

Agreed! If you truly want sq then active will be your best choice in the long run.

To go active you will need some crossover capabilities. Which I don't think the H.U. you have chosen has. So you will either need to pick a different H.U., add a active crossover, or use the crossovers on the amps if available.

How hot will bridging that 4-channel run? Seems to me that I can live with a bit of heat for 1/2 the cost of that 2-channel.

An active setup is not where you look if on a budget. Way too many pieces to the puzzle.

Often times a 4 channel amp has a built-in crossover anyway, shouldn't add anymore pieces - just a little more to tune it. I have heard many passive xovers and most of them can't compare to running active.

Pretty much all 4-channels currently out there have a built in crossover. Almost none of the 4-channels out there have crossover capable of doing the filtering required for an active two-way front stage.

Like I said, active is better, but it isn't cheap. More power on a passive setup is going to sound better than an active setup that lacks headroom and proper filtering and processing.
