Hello everyone,
New to the site and looking forward to learning more about car audio sytems.
Ive been into car audio for a brief time about 15 yrs ago or so and wanting to get
back into things.
Im more into sound quality than I am shaking the neighbors windows out although I do like a good
sounding car shaking bass hit inside the car.
Upon researching head units I've decided I want/need 3 pre amp outputs with at least 4v of power output.
Ive decided on a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X597 as my head unit as it has both of those requirements for the poultry price of $129.99
For a sub and box I was looking at the Sound Ordnance B-12 combo..Ive read the reviews and its not really a super droning boomy bass but more of a solid hit bass sound which is what im looking for...Not a super powerful sub only being rated at 250RMS@4ohm but im thinking will help fit sound quality needs. ($79.99)
For power to the sub, i looked at the Sound Ordnance M-1500 mono amp with 300rms@4ohm output..This seems to be a good match power wise and price wise. ($119.00)
I've just recently scraped the car I was driving to get a new one so im not sure of what other speakers I would need as of yet.
I do have from a past car a pair of Polk Audio EX crossovers and Polk DB series silk dome (swiveling) tweeters I can use if possible.
One question I have is , Is it better to go with a single 4channel amp to power the front and rear main speakers or use 2 separate 2ch. amps?..Going for sound quality my thoughts are the farther away the speakers are (back) that I need more power to those than the front to get that surround sound effect????
If I use a 4 channel crossover, can I just set the gains down in the front to create the same effect using a 4ch.amp????
Thank for your advice and help.
