Budget Build Help? Jensen amp?

ok so i have a chance to get a Jensen KA-5 old school amp for about $50, my question is is the thing worth buying? I plan on getting a new set of budget components for my s10 because my old kappa's (mids) died but I need an amp to run them and it seems decent but I dunnoo much about old school jensen. I may just end up grabbing a pair of pyle(budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ) w64's mids and just using my infinity crossovers and tweeters.

I read it was solid back in the day and im still waiting for my THUMP THA-2000 to arrive from flEaBAY, im gonna use that for 1 CVL8-500

wtf, where do i start. There is good budget equipment and then there is junk. Jensen and pyle are both junk.

yeah well I know pyle is crappy but I cant find a pair of mids for under $40 I've got a OLLLLLD Clarion APA4101 that I could use but the Jensen has more power and this is OLD SCHOOL jensen not how they've become. The Pyle w64's got some decent reviews but i'm not sure if they were from peoplee that have heard ID or Rainbow,Focal...etc.

Jensen has always been junk and always will be. Save up and get some gear worth owning is all I can tell you.

There is a few amps for less than 100$ in the threads to run some mids and highs...

Also some componets better than the ones you listed ya.. the MB Quarts or Cadence for sure on Ebay for under 60$ shipped...

Never used either one but i'm sure they are both way better than what you listed.

Mb quart make good amps, and those cadence are decent for cheap comps.

Craigslist is your friend. I've gotten Zapcos for $50. Hell, I found a working Linear Power for $40. and BTW- those Cadence comps are on AudioSavings.com "deal of the day" for $30 shipped for about another hour.

My thing is, on craigslist the people are mostly selling PURE GARBAGE for crazy prices, and don't knock the Jensen too hard it's supposed to be ZED design...not built but designed. But yeah on CL around here there are tons of Sony,VR3 and Legacy amps ALLLLLLLLLLLL DAY!

well, jenson has always been bottom tier stuff for the day, yet better than explode. i bought a couple new ones ack in 2000 and they were decent for 300/450's for output, but not comparable to the bigger brands. wall-mart stuff, so for old-school- it's ok compared to todays weak standards. i would say it is well/over-built for it's ratings. i would probably pay the $50 for it
