This is a budget build for my cousins durango.

He gave me $550 bucks and said he wanted a pair of 12's, enclosure, amp, head unit, dash kit & wiring harness, amp kit.... and he wanted it to do atleast a 140db on the termlab mic...

He didnt want to use any used equpiment (other than the hu), didnt want to spend more than the $550, and wouldnt settle for anything other than 2 12's (I wanted to do a single 15" type r off the hifonics.)

Head unit: kenwood kdc-mp4032 $30 bucks used

Front stage: Infinity ref 6.5's (were already installed)

Rearfill: stock, faded mostly out.

2 12" alpine type r's $245.00 shipped

hifonics bxi 1200.1 $169.00 shipped

Dash kit, wiring harness (rougly 20 bucks, wal-mart.)

Amp kit: $39.00 (local audio shop)

Box: Roughly 50.00 for material (mdf, carpet, ect)

Displaying Proper Table Saw Useage! (cousin and his roomate)

Box carpeted. Building an amp rack soon.

140.7 db. The battery is really weak in the durango, and should of gotten the bxi 1600.1 or 2000.1, but was limited on funds.

And the Durango. He called a few weeks ago and said find me something cheap, it doesnt matter if it needs engine/****** work, but has to be nice... So I found this for $1,200 bucks. 99 durango, 5.9, slt, flowmaster exhaust... It needed a transmission, found him one for $300 bucks. He has roughly $2,100 into the durango with the system included. Not too shabby.

Replacing the battery soon and doing the big three.

Going to run some cheap components up front (probably alpine's:rolleyes:) off another hifonics amp.

Probably go ahead and put the infinitys that currently in the front, in the rear, fade mostly out.

And a dvd head unit, probably pioneer, jvc or alpine.

Probably switching to the bxi2000.1 and building another box, shooting for a 145 db next time.

I wish I had an SUV, so easy to get loud in.

I have the 2608d Hifonics amp going in soon and 2 10 premier spl-250's in a ported box subs up, port back in a trunked car and will be lucky to do 140 on the TL, with 0/1g Knu wire, big 3, optima red top in front and powermaster 3100 in back.

Like I said, lucky to do 140! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I was really hoping for a 143 or so, maybe with a new box, battery, and the big three.

The subs really want more power, I think they'd like a bxi2008. But he doesnt want to spend any money right now, were saving to go on vacation next month to see his grandma (my great aunt), so he's going to buy a new battery (which it needs anyways) and I'll probably build a new box with aeroports, subs up, ports back...

The worker who metered showed us his system... 18" solo x, kicker 2500.1, 250 amp alternator, 2 batteries in the rear, ect. It'll burp a 148, or do 146 or music... That was pretty loud, and I was surpised about how well it sounded. I forgot to ask what components he was running, but **** they were loud and sounded good.

a 48 burp with his setup is not a good score i have seen guys with 4 12's an 1000 watts do mid 50's, but anyway back to your build i bet if you move that box back an forth you can get maybe 2 or 3 more dbs out of it hell you would be amazed at how your score will change by just open a window or fanning a door.

i would say keep the 1600 and get another one an strapp those babies together on both those subs an see what happens if it dont work just sell it. i say that was a steal on his whole set up even with the truck. nice build i wish my buddy will take some notes he has the same truck with 8 p3 10's an only doing 48 in a wall. we are supposig tht he will get louder with the 4 groundpounders an same subs with bandpass box, we shall see though

X2

but nice build on the durango...iam gunna be getting a 03 r/t next week...
Word of advice, check it over (or take it to a mechanic) BEFORE you buy it.

The ball joints are horrible on the durango/dakota's, most of the aftermarket ones **** as well..

Also, the engines are known for building up sludge (even with regular oil changes) and it cloggs the oil pump up and locks up the motor...

And of course the transmission. REALLY, REALLY famous for their sh*t bucket transmissions... Smell the fluid!!!!

I've seen them run 200,000 miles without any problems, but my uncle has had a lot of them out at his shop with 60,000 needing a motor or *****...

i know about 4 people who had nothing but problems with the older durangos like you stated. all of them had major suspension problems and ****** problems. now i don't know about the newer ones
