Budget build for 02 honda civic

Finally looking to replace the stock system. Need to definitely get a new head unit. Already planning on replacing it with comp speakers(I am going to reuse the factory location for the new ones), possibly replace my stock 6x9s with something, and add a 12" sub. I will definitely amp the component speakers(not sure yet on the 6x9s), so I will not be relying on stock hu's power.

My budget is going to be up to $200 for a headunit, $0-150 for comp speakers, speaker amp around $200, sub/amp combo around $400. I know wiring will bring the price up, but just trying to avoid overspending.

Looking for mainly sound quality. Listen to a lot of heavy metal and alternative, some rap, some techno.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I second the 5 channel or 6 channel amp I had one in my 1999 honda civic hatchback running kickers in the front infinity's in the back and a rf punch stage 2 10 inch sub it sounded nice. I would have to go with a alpine head unit any of them are nice but the one that is the best bang for the buck has to be the cde-102

Yeah I am looking at Alpine units, but it seems like they don't offer as much for the money compared to the Pioneer Premier hu's, but they still look pretty solid. I have a little bit of room for a headunit purchase even if its higher than my stated price.

Should I even bother replacing my 6x9s? It seems the consensus on these boards is to get a good set of comps and a sub to match it while leaving the current rear speakers in or not at all.

honda civic ****
its true. I've put my 02 civic through hell and back (pick in my sig). its hard as hell to get loud and even harder to sound nice. Get ready to deaden your a ss off, especially the crappy doors. Rear deck is a pain to get to and it rattles like hell when you have a sub. Same with the trunk lid and license plate.

after you get past all that you're golden.

I dunno which comps u should get (i'm thinking of some but they are over your budget), but for comp amp I'd say go with rockford power series.

sub, maybe an re se with any amp to match. I could sell you an amp/sub combo for less than $400 if you're interested as well.

good luck
