I just spent the past 12 hours reading the forums and my mind is spinning between all the new brands and all the great information y'all provide. I was hoping you can set me in the right direction.

Quick background. I've owned the same JBL 600.1 amp for 10 years now and it has now outlasted all subs hooked to it. It has blown 2 different Infinity Perfect 12's and has now killed a voice coil on the Elemental designs 12O.44 (12 in dvc 4ohm).

So here I am again wanting to use my trusty 600.1 but want to go into a different config. I prefer sealed boxes for tight bass, SQL. I have always wanted to try 3 tens but am willing to venture into 2 twelves or a single fifteen (always ran a single 12). I only have so much space in my 98 civic coupe about 36" wide for a box to fit in and about 24" in height and don't want to give up more than a foot in depth if possible.

My budget is about 150-200 just for the subs. I will most likely build my box (built a few before). The major constraint is the 600.1 only likes to put out 600w at 1-2ohms otherwise I would of purchased 3 RE Rex 10.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Charles

Budget is max 200 for ALL the subs

Space 36" wide for a box to fit in and about 24" in height and don't want to give up more than a foot in depth if possible.

Keeping my JBL 600.1 unless there is a point in selling it, I think to replace this amp is going to be another $150 (Thinking BRZ series hifonic brutus) and I don't want to at this point.

Setting gain is a valid point but the perfect 12's were when they were having there issues (1st version) . The ED lasted 8 years, I think it met an early life to some square waves but ultimately if my next sub lasts another 8 years I would be a //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif camper.

Also I am trying to stay sealed, I just am not a fan of a ported box. Maybe I just only heard crappy ones and not a professionally built one? I enjoy listening to rock and metal as much as ground pounding Decaf'd music. If I can't get that awesome double bass from a metallica song out of my sub, I would cry!

Thanks for the suggestions so far , keep them coming!

You're not going to get 2 or 3 of any sub worthwhile for under $200. You're best looking at the b-stock 15" like you have been. Also, any properly designed ported enclosure can keep up with any sealed enclosure and any double bass you throw at it. The only side effect is that the sub has a load more output //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

After reading some more and y'alls input it looks like my finalist are .

2 - SKAR IVX10's in a ported box

1- Sundowns SA-15 sealed

Harsh realities of my civic are the dimensions are more like 30"x15"x12" for 3.125 cubic feet. Factor in MDF thickness I am probably closer to 2.75 usable CF. Therefore I could still do ported with the 10's just only 2. Then would do sealed with the 15 if I go that route.

With 30 x 15 x 12 you will only have 2.34ft^3 gross.
Why are you so limited on space?
back of trunk on my civic has that width and height . the depth of 12 is what I need to still have a usable trunk, AKA fit my bowling bag (3 ball roller).
