He wants an in-dash nav/DVD HU.

Front 6.5" comps

6x9 rears

And sub and amp(s).

He is gonna dynamat the whole car.

Budget is around $1600.

i'd say a mix of the two. he wants clear and loud... not loud to the point of breaking windshields and causing problems, but respectable.

and why not put money into a 3000GT? they are one of my favorite cars.

The front indash is gong to consume the majority of his money. Your looking at 1000 for a decent model. Then that leaves you 600 to piece together the rest of the system.

A 10" would fit right behind the rear seat but itll be a tight fit so look for something that likes small enclosures.
