BTL vs HDC3

if FI did woven tinsel leads i would say toss up, but for the price and having the woven leads th HDC3 wins hands down.

Honestly man? Cmon?

Lol I own both of these subs. To me my Btl always sounded better then my

hdc3. The Btl also got louder in my car but not by alot. The AQ is half the price tho and could get decently loud with less power.

a 1500d on the aluminum coil?

you would see some improvement by using that amp on the copper coil

Sorry Im kinda lost on this comment? does AQ use aluminum coils?
the first HDC's were with the aluminum coils which shine with about 2-3kw. the copper ones are louder with 2kw and under (i believe DJ said best is around 800-1500w true watts) . so using a 1500d, plus factoring impedance rise, electrical etc, im sure the copper coil would keep up with the btl easier.

the aluminum coil is now a $50 upgrade, because the copper ones are on the way. the first ones with the aluminum coil were just kind of a freebie.

So i missed out on the freebie upgrade? bummer well the birthsheet on this amp is 4600wmrs so I figure 2300wrms each sub roughly and of course there is the impedence rise but my electrical will be pretty secure so I dont plan on loosing a ton of power on that. Any recomendations on box sizes? It will be a 2000 4Runner so I got a fair amount of space to work with.

you should be louder with the copper ones anyways off that power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

but no, i have no recomendations. i would ask other people who have 4runners. for example

2004 explorer = fine with 40hz tuning

98 explorer = IMO, no good with 38hz tuning

so as you can see, it will vary from car to car, and you would get the most help from people who have experience with that vehicle.

dont get me wrong... the BTL's are phenoman subs... i just always preffered woven leads, regardless of cost... if Fi switched to woven leads i probably wouldnt have got the AQ in the first place. it wasnt about the money for me.. it was about the design. the AQ fit my needs and i would have got them if they were 500 a piece. I had a hard time deciding between the dd 95's and the HDC3's... the CF cone was what sealed it for me.
