BTL vs HDC3

you will not notice a difference between the two in loudness, but rather just freq response.

IME (in my 98 explorer 4.5^3 @ 33hz) off 3kw.

BTL = STRONG lower end, ok upper end

HDC = STRONG upper end, good low end

HDC in 4^3ft @ 38hz = stronger upper end, eh low end

HDC in 4^3ft @ 40hz = upper end okay, stronggg low end. sub forward, port forward box all the way at the back of the trunk.

I can agree to that. I think they do pretty good up to around 80 Hz. 30-40 Hz is crazy.

yup, low end is pretty crazy on these things.

im wondering, what size box are you using? with the low end these things got, i think people can make the boxes a wee bit smaller, and bring their tuning up a bit to try to "even out" the response.

yes, a smaller box is going to make it more peaky, but when you are already a low end beast, why not try to peak a little bit on the upper end? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

skeptical: another example, that the vehicle can make a hell of a difference in how the sub responds //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

My (4) are in 12 ft^3 tuned to 35 Hz with 204 in^2 of port area. Peaks at 36-38 Hz.
I really like the BTL's.

Still on the hunt for 160 in my daily driver. . .

Brian
ahhh, so you are at 3 cubes each and still getting good low end, plus more upper end.

figured as much, but by the time i was thinking of doing another box to try to strengthen the upper end, i didnt want to recone the btl and sold it as is. i was running in low tuned in 4.5 so the low end was pretty strong as you can imagine

That was all the room I wanted to take up. By the time I got the amps and batteries in the back, there is not much room for groceries //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.
