bridgeing in stereo or mono ?

I want to bridge my component speakers to a 5 channel bridgeable amp.One channel is for a sub. This leaves me with 4 channels.according to amp instructions for bridgeing the remaining channels I would run a rca cable to both left channels of amp, thus omitting the right channels.I would then flip the input switch from stereo to mono creating a high power amplifier.Does this sound right.I don't want to lose stereo effect from my components.Maybe im reading it wrong.my eyes are blurry from looking at it.Im thinking I should run a y splitter from rca to all four channels then leaving it in stereo. Then I would then hook each speaker lead to their respected two channels each.thus giving me my two channels per speaker load.Dont want to try it and blow something. I like to follow manufacturers instructions , but I question this.Maybe theyre talking if im going to run two subs. What do yall think?Hope this is understandable.

i've never seen an amp do what you're describing. you need/want stereo wiring for speakers.

you use two y-adapters.

left RCA into y-adapter into channels 1 & 2. bridge channels 1 & 2 for left speaker

right RCA into y-adapter into channels 3 & 4. bridge channels 3 & 4 for right speaker

with y-adapter will have one female and two male and be located at the amp

it's possible that the amp has an internal mono setting for channels 1 & 2 and a mono setting for channels 3 & 4. then you would be able to eliminate the y-adapters. if so, that's great. post pics of the amp settings or link to photos of the make/model so we can verify.
