Bridged amp....two runs of RCA's

Can you solve it?
So as my sig says I have an RF symmetry. I re-did the whole system over the past weekend to make some room in the trunk. I was thinking about something and needed opinions. I run one run from the headunit to the symmetry then i have the option of 7 sets of outs (depending on desired crossover freq.) Since my amp is bridged, should I still run both left and right form the Symmetry to each of the terminals on the amp? If I unplug one set, the amp still plays music.

If the amp is bridged then you should be able to just run 1 channel of rca if you'd like? unless you like the "look" of all of them coming off the sym box? only if you're using 2 channels "stereo" or more would you need the additional lines.

So is there any real difference running the two sets or the one set?
Run both unless your amp manual specifically states that you don't need to. Every amp I have owned (and bridged) said that both the L and R need signal or failure will occur (amp will overheat).

This can be accomplished with y-splitters. For example when I bridge my 4 channle I just use a 2 channle RCA to the amp then y-splitters to split left to both inputs on front and split right to both inputs on rear. This way both channles get signal. (this is also how all manuals I have read recommend wiring bridged). So for a 2 channle you just take the channle signal from the source and split it to both L and R.

I don't understand the electronics enough to explain it fully but think about it... your demanding that left and right work together (bridged) while only supplying left or right with signal? Doesn't make sense...

I have ALWAYS heard and followed the rule that splitters ****!! the rule explained above makes sense i guess....even though it goes against itself. i have never had an amp "overheat" from a signal the a rca does or doesn't carry...but then again, it wouldn't be the first time today i was wrong....

A splitter isn't going to have any adverse effect on a mono signal

Here's your quote ......and splitters ****!!!! i didn't say they would have an "adverse" or a bad effect on a signal but they **** *** all the same. i don't think he was asking about a splitter in the first place?
No he wasn't asking about splitters. How can splitters **** if they cause no adverse effect. I would agree that they **** for stereo signals, but your comment makes no sense in this case

O.K. but what you JUST said makes no sense to me whatsoever.......so you're saying it's alright to use them in a stereo configuration but not mono? i'm NOT trying to be a pain in the a$$ but it just seems like there's ALOT of people on here who just run from thread 2 thread and throw up "comments" and 99% of the time they just blurt something out that has nothing to do with nor does it help the original post/poster in anyway at all. i'm not gonna argue with you about it....you're right and i am wrong, have a good one my friend.

Did you not read? I said the exact opposite of that. It is ok to use them for a mono signal, not stereo.

And I did not throw up random comments. Bun-Bun suggested the use of a splitter. You made a retarded blanket statement screaming "SPLITTERS ****", when the opposite is true in this specific case.

Couple of things...I am not using a splitter....I'm running a set of RCA's from each side (let me find a picture) This is going to my comps and not subs as well.

Thanks for the input though, I appreciate it!

I guess a persons opinion isn't qualified unless i either have been a member since 05' or have over 3,000 posts. once again i will say it.....you're right and i am obviously wrong. sorry for the diff of opinions

Hintzy..........I in no way was/am trying to start post war on here with you, i made the atetment i did because i have always heard that the use of splitters was not a good thing, not bad either but i do not like nor use them. this is all i was saying i respect your opinion and didn't mean to start off on the wrong foot with you. to each his own and at least this time you simply said my statement was "retarded" and not invalid like the other thread where you bashed me for "not quoting properly":crap:
