break in time on Nightshades

ok, i pulled both subs and checked all the coils. individually all the coils seem to read within reason. the sub that i havent had an issue with (getting warm) reads 0.9 on one coil and 0.9 on the other coil. (D1 subs). the one that gets warm quickly reads 1.4 on one coil and 1.5 on the other coils, seems a bit high, but ive had some subs read higher like that. so everything checks out there.
BUT, when i series each sub (should result somewhere around a 2ohm range..)... i get 1.8 for the first sub, which is within reason. and i get 1.2 for the sub that im having problems with....

1.4 and 1.5 wired in series should result somewhere around 2.9, which seems rather high, but its reading 1.2! i checked, and re-checked, and checked again, tried new wire. everything. still getting the same reading.

something seems wrong inside the sub

any ideas?? ^^^ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

its getting warm, i mean i can still touch the dustcap, but its is a significant difference over the other one. Ill check the terminals aswell, that could be something there.
fck it, im going to go pull those 60lb biches now lol

edit::: naa, nvm, just realized its 42 degrees out. fk that

IDK, that seems impossible. Using a 9V battery (any small batt will work), check the pos and neg terminals on the sub to make sure they are all wired correctly from the factory. Pos to pos and neg to neg on each of the coils, they should all pop the sub out. If any pop in rather than out, it's wired backwards.

ill try that out, brb

should i try wiring it out of phase on purpose?

the sub moves in a normal motion, same excursion as the other one. ive seen subs out of phase, where you can clearly see the difference. thats not whats happening here. maybe something is touching on the inside? idk

also, as the sub breaks in, the at rest reading will change a little as everything loosens up. can you tell if both subs have the same cooling vents or features?
yes, from what i can tell both are identical. how much power and time do these take to properly break in? 1 sub was used for over 1 hour, the other one (im assuming this one im having the issue with) was powered up for a very short time just to check a few things im told.

i may give them a few days and get another reading then. ive never came across this issue, im lost lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

but even during the break in period, should the subs get that stinky? even if i were giving it 1200-1500w? maybe if they had excess glue... ??

This is what I need you to do... attach your meter to the terminals and then start to move the tinsel leads around (not hard either) try pushing them in toward the terminal and then do the same with the other side... Watch the meter while you do this and see if the readings start to go back to normal. Sometimes if the solder joint to the terminal isnt good you can have readings be way off.. also if a tinsel lead is ripping apart this can also happen. SO mess with them with the meter on them and see if it changes at all when you move them around... ( now dont be affraid to apply some pressure to them but not enought to rip them apart) you know what I mean..
