Brahma...what's the deal...should I reconsider?

as far as i know, im the only one on the board who's brahma's spider is lifting. Dont get me wrong- it may be busted right now, but when it was working it was definitley the cleanest sub ive ever heard- and it got loud. and if josh says that the spider prob has been taken care of- in that case- i highly recommend the brahma.

Josh: i spoke to my dealer as well as dan wiggins and they both said just do get some super glue and "try to re-attach it"(exact words). they havent said a thing about warranty. Do you have any suggestions as for what to do?

thanks

Well pat...

I'd glue the bugger myself.

If you can't get it to stay (it's a pretty low-stress area, you should be able to) - then arrange a warranty return.

At least that way, you don't have to be subless - pretty simple fix to be honest.

Sarcasm at it's best... My first post was comprised of just that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

A nice sounding driver ... but the $400 price tag makes most people walk away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Well isn't the 15" Brahma $429 + s/h?

I'm taking it the Brahma is a SQL sub?

$429 shipped ...

CMPX2 12" - $400 + s/h, B12 - $369 shipped

Not that much of a difference ... though I still think it's expensive lol.

Yes ... the Brahma can excell in SPL or SQ depending on your application.

i agree with you rangerman. the forum is here to help people out with their problems concerning subs, amps, etc. most likely since this is a forum, you'll get lots of threads concerning malfunctioning equipment which is normal. on SD, u find many people saying the idmax cone can misalign and such, but of course. thats what the forum is for, to help resolve problems.

instead of spending the time looking at how many people had problems with the sub, spend time and find out how many people out there who has not have such a problem with it. in reality, only a VERY SMALL portion of the equipment shipped out has became victoms of manufactor defects. the bigger portion of ruined equipment comes from user abuse. the rest simply has no problem with it.

Well, I have decided to get the B15. I am getting it considerably cheaper then the 429 everyone talks about so that makes it a little easier. It got shipped today and should be here next week or so.

Hey, Mark_ab, you said yours hits mid 140's, what amp do you have, what size box, any suggestions?

Does anyone know the displacement of it? I'm thinking of going with 2 4" ports, any suggestions on that?

I have my B12 in about a 3 cuft. box, dont know what it is tuned to, but this is the first time my trunk lid actually does the harlem shake. Really nice sub. People will hate on you though.

well- just thought id let everyone know- the super-glue worked jus'fine and my beastly 15 is back in action...pounding away in a 1.7 cuft box( but it doesnt seem to have the super-duper-mega-ultra-extended low-end that the 2.7cuft did)....

i think instead of selling it im going to give it to my pops as a birthday present (as well as a h/u, and a new comp speaker setup). I just wish the electrical system in the passat was better....the sub drains it real bad...even running the alt at 3500rpms i still get bad dimmage....owell...needs a HO alt

yep, well i done did gone and did it again...blew the rest of th spider right off the frame...but its still fixable....cuz the part i superglued stayed on nice good'n tight...so im just gonna eglue the whole ****ed thing...just thought i'd let 'chall know....cuz i know u guys care oh so much lol

I managed to rip part of the sorround right off the cone...no idea how but anyone got a good idea of what glue to use to fix it?
Wow, that's a new one. I would recomend contacting your dealer about this and see what they say. He got permission to go ahead and glue the spider, which means he doesn't void the warranty if it doesn't work. But if you try to glue that, you might lose your warranty. Better to be safe than sorry.
