box types

So im looking to do a build of 4 subs, either 8's or 10's, all the subs and boxes ive had have taken up all or almost all of the space between my trunk and cabin of my car. Are there some other boxs designs i can use to try to keep this space open? Like designs other than subs facing the rear versus facing up or in the cabin while keeping the same or better sound quality.

There is a good possibility that I can help you accomplish both objectives, but it depends greatly on both the particular woofers and the car.

Sealed would take up the least space obviously but if you're wanting to get loud (which I assume since you're using 4 subs) then maybe a small ported enclosure with some quality drivers that can handle a good amount of power.

It'd be easier if you could give us an idea of what subs you're going to be using and your plans to power them. Some rough dimensions of the space you want to work with couldn't hurt either...

Subs are unkown right now, trying to decide between four different brands, all of around the same power rating (500 to 600rms) just different brands. It going to be either 8" or 10", if 8" it will be the DD1508's for sure.

Dimensions, if you can imagine what the trunk of a oldsmobile alero looks like (exact same as pontiac grand am's), about 36" left to right if the box is pushed all the way back to the seats, then it expands the closer you get to the trunk.
