box tunage

I got a 12" Cerwin Vega Stroker in a 4cube box made by Obcon. There are 2 4" flared ports on the front. Its got a slot design on one side and just ported on the other. How do I know what the box is tuned to. And is this box to big, some really low notes sound like its farting.

If im correct your box is tuned darn high .. Right around 48-50 hz. May be/ is why it sounds like shit on the low end . Playing to far below the boxes tuning freq. EDIT : did you measure the inside of outside diameter of the port ?

my avatar is the pic of the stroker in that box. dont get me rong it does hit really hard, I took out my rearveiw 3 times but I still want it louder and lower. How do I go about doing that. Make the ports longer or what??????????

u need smaller ports so the sub has some resistance on the low notes.the ports are too big.if it was me,i would take the the vent inside the box out, then make the two front ports long, barely coming off the back of the box and go from there.

im guessing he is driving his sub below tuning, the easy fix would be to make the ports longer. How ever neither of us are standing at his car right now so there might be multiple problems:)
