I've been searching and just want to make sure im not missing anything if/when i make my own box for the MOFO i got comin...obviously i need plans but i will get those when the time comes...is there anything else i need besides 3/4" MDF, Wood Glue, Nails or screws (which are better), and silicone caulk....any alternatives that are better would help too...thanx...

Make sure you get good wood glue because that is what bonds your box together, some good caulk like you mentioned, i used #6 drywall screws 1 5/8" and they work perfect and make sure you predrill the holes-if you have any money left over you can always go out to lowes and buy some carpet and cover the box with it.

Good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

thanx man...its gonna be my first box...hopefully it holds up and works well...it can't be that complicated right? i mean its just wood+glue+silicon caulking right? (haha i need the support since im not too much of a DIY-er)

well I use construction adhesive instead of wood glue (should be in the same isles as the MDF) and it bonds stronger with MDF. I also use a nailgun and 1 1/4" brads instead of screws, and finally I dont use caulk I use Silicone sealant ( http://www.gesealants.com/sealants/diy/portfolio/silicones/siliconerubber.shtml ) its in the caulk isle but it is 100% silicone.

as for carpet I bought mine from Bavarian3, good stuff. and if you go the carpet route get 3m Super 77 adhesive

I never did glue any of my boxes cept for the port. And I always use the cheap stuff for sealing the box. (Liquid Nail) its the little brown tube with the cowgirl on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I see nobody mentioned tools so I guess I will...

The tools I use is a square, dremel with circle attachment, jigsaw, table saw, and skill saw (i dont use unless I have to)

I lack skill saw skills.

Ive used Gorilla glue on my last 5 boxes and no air leaks what-so-ever //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

POWER TOOLS!! I use a hand saw and screwdriver. And a chisel to make the speaker holes.

But really Just a drill/driver, and if ure cutting the wood a skillsaw. U will also need a dremel with a circular hole cutting thingy or a jig saw for the speaker holes.. or you can use the jigsaw or dremel also to take the place of the skill saw.. it'll just take a while longer and u need a steady hand.

I used the construction adhesive on the boards and sealed the outside with it (sands pretty nice) and used the silicone on the inside runs smooth if you run your finger across it in the corners.
