what would be the sound difference from going from a large ported box(4.5 cubes net per sub) to a smaller ported box(3-3.5 cubes net per sub)?

my current box is 4.5 cubes net @37-38 hz. wanna go smaller as mentioned above and tune around 32hz for my l7s

The *** in that avatar, I forgot her name/site...bah.
hmm a smaller box will have less gain, may sound better/tighter, will take more power to get the same spl...correct me if I'm wrong~

can't correct you.....i agree.

why smaller??

It depends on the driver you're using (and also the car). A smaller box has less damping and requires lower Q drivers. If you want to tune lower then you may also want a driver with a lower Fs also. If you tune too low with too small an enclosure you will get a peak in the mid bass and lose SPL generated by the port. Also if your driver has a high Q then you will end up with sloppy midbass and reduced low end.
