Box Size / Tuning ?

So the box I have my three CVX 12's in I had got from a friend a while back. I am trying to figure out how I could measure the cubic feet and tuning the box is made for?

I feel like it is not big enough according to Kicker Specs, but how could I get close to figuring the cubic feet and tuning of it?

Here are the kicker specs for them:

Min Rec Sealed Box Volume (CU. FT., Liters) 1.0, 28.3Max Rec Sealed Box Volume (CU. FT., Liters) 4.6, 130

Min Rec Vented Box Volume (CU. Ft., Liters)** 1.75, 49.6

Max Rec Vented Box Volume (CU. Ft., Liters)** 2.25, 63.7
I have a few pics and dimensions of it, but other than that what should I figure out?

Dimensions:

Width: 40"

Length: 20"

Height: 16"

If I need a bigger box, I can add about 8" to the length of it, would that be sufficient?

That is a prefab enclosure with very small ports that appear to be very small as well. I would bet it is tuned at some off the wall number that happened to work with the way it was built in china.

If you are wanting to get the most out of them you can, I would suggest getting an enclosure designed/built with your application and goals in mind to ensure they perform to level you think they should be at.

I think it will be around 1.88ft3 gross per chamber. Assuming the ports are 2.5 x 12 and around 10-11 long...you would be at 1.65ft3 net before sub displacement per chamber with tuning around 57 or so maybe..

that is just all guessing by the way with no math involved.

Thanks, I was going to contact you soon about a custom enclosure, but I wanted to see what this was tuned at and how much efficiency I am losing by using this box for my subs. Any way I can measure what it is tuned at and such?

How wide is each port? 10 Inches?
I thought that's what you meant by vents..I just measured them they are 12" wide

In order to figure out the exact size and such of the enclosure here are a few things we would need to know.

1. Wood thickness

2. The depth of those inset sides

3. The H x W of the port and the L(how deep/long they go into the box)

That should be enough info along with what you already posted to get you a really close idea to what that enclosure is doing.

As for what your losing, if my estimated numbers are even close, you are losing a lot.

Thank you, I Pm'd you yesterday
