box size@ported or sealed

is it true that a bigger box will be louder? i have a P3D415 in a sealed box 1.9 cubic inches. i talked to a box builder he told me to go 5.66cubic feet slot ported tuned to 38hertz, and i would gain a lot of SPL is this true?

yes not sure on the specs since I wouldn't use anything fosgate if you paid me too. but 1.9 is way too small for that sub. even sealed. you want roughly at least 3 -4 ported at 35-38

so by me going to 5.66cu.ft ported tuned to 38 hertz will i be louder than the recommened sealed box.

those tiny little box specs seem like a way for fosgate to save on some warranty returns. if you run it through winisd, you'd probably find a far larger number. 5.66 sounds like a better number than 2.66 for a 15.

2.66 cu ft for a 15 is way too small. I'd shoot for around 5 cu ft. net with like 50 sq in. of port area, then simply tune it to whatever your listening preference is.
