box placement/ securing

im putting one 12" alpine type r in my trunk in a sealed box and mounting my hifonix brutus bxi1608d 1600watt amp on a mdf board hinged from the top on my trunk at an angle.... i was wondering if i needed to secure my sub box somehow or if u think it would slide around and get damaged if so.... how would you suggest securing the box in the middle behind the back seat??? (my trunk has the spare tire inside with the board covering it making the trunk flat so i need to be able to access that if i get a flat still.)

just use "L" brackets to hold the box down to floor of trunk

not really on the bottom? but on the top or maybe the rim around the opening from the backseats to the trunk? idk i can post a picture tomorrow maybe

take a L bracket screw into box, then into floor of trunk

should i drill through the pull back carpet? and do i need to worry bout hitting anything when drilling the L brackets? like the gas tank or wires or anything? i relaly dont wanna mess everything up over a few brackets?

Yes, be very careful when drilling into the sheet metal, I wouldn't do it at all imo, creates a spot where water/condensation can get into the car or rust the sheet metal due to the paint being removed

dont use long screws,and make sure you check below where ure drilling first but just a small screw you should barely even break through the sheet metal,

can use a silicon to fill over the drill hole once drilled

i would say no more then 1/2 inch

any good material screw would work. try a few that are a half inch and under and see what would work the best. factor in any kind of layering from inside the trunk to get to the actual sheet metal itself(carpet and what not)

Even if you were to drill into the sheet metal wouldnt you want to use a bolt and not a screw? Excessive vibrations can cause the screw to back out as well as inertial forces pulling on the box in heavy cornering might cause the screw to pull out of the hole and strip out.
