title should be, anyone got some screws i can have for my box?

there are only 2 screws in that big length of board, even with wood glue and sealing the corners that would be pretty weak by most standards. I'd be affraid to blow out a side wall if its built like that all around.

heck that gives only maybe 30 screws total in a box that big! **edit i see you have more screws on the top, were those screws to just to hold the boards in place?***

i hope you have done something else to stregthen it up quit a bit, you should try fiberglassing the corners with resin and matting, then fiberglass resin the rest of the box, would be super strong

Wrong. Screws do not determine bonding strength. If properly clamped/glued it will be strong as needed.

Other than the bad paint job and chopy mounting of the plexi. Looks decent.

I like the whole plexi glass idea. I wanted to try something like that. But I think it would've looked alot cleaner if u flushed out the box and dropped in the plexi glass so it looks like it fit in perfectly. so u see all wood from the side (not 1" of plexi glass on top) and when u look from the top u see the plexi glass and the inside of the box.

Is that the speaker wire I see running in to that port? What the....?! Tacky!

You have the right idea, it seems, when building a box, but it is just as important to finish it too. Show off your work, and talent, and make sure it looks nice too, it will get you a lot more business, if thats what you are looking for.

Have you ever seen any competition systems that werent painted, covered in vinyl or glass, or carpeted? Just finish the work.

you misunderstood it then.

i know they dont determine bond strength but anyone will tell you that wood glue alone wont hold up under the pressure, and you then get a blow out, better safe then sorry

but as he said the box is only a little over 2cf so he will be fine, if the box was bigger it would have been another story, the picture made the box look more like 3-4cf.

again wood glue and caulking wont hold a box together on its own. i would rather build a box stronger then needed then just enopught.

take my box for example, its 9.5cf, 1.5X1.5 (normally called 2x2's, 1.5 is after the milling and routerring the edges)in all corners, all joints wood glued and then fiberglassed W/matting in all corners then a layer of fiberglass resin to coat the box, plus screws ever 3-4 inches. the box is solid and i dont have to worry about box flexing or blowing out a side wall

I am not really looking for any business, I already have a job. I was just showing my box. Personally I could care less what it really looks like, I am all about the sound, and it hits real hard. Besides I thought about covering it, but it doesn't make it sound any better, although I still may do so. Yeah that is speaker wire coming out of the port, I have seen alot of boxes on here like that, but I guess that still doesn't make it any less tacky

if you are all about the sound then did you know that the wire coming out of the port like that can cause port turbulance, which can lead to port noise which affects sound?
