i dont think i ever posted pics on the box me and supa made. it's been almost a month now. it's my first box, supas...3rd?? haha anyway as i recall it took us all day and neither of us ate a single thing till we finished at like 9 pm lol. of course right after we finished we were annoying his neighbors while filming some p0rn. not to mention filming jmacs plans getting blown out of the port haha.

the old box, 1.0 cu ft/chamber

output comparison between the old box and new (thanks to james)

that's a peak output gain of 6.53 db @ 41Hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

no carpeting, no paint, no terminals, no bracing, no nothing! did use screws though. we didnt want to waste time so we didnt round off corners either. but for a first time box there were few mistakes and it still came out quite solid...

some mistakes were

crack on the top left and the first port wall, if you can see, is kind of off, you can see about 1/8" of the front face (not supposed to see any if you still dont get it). hardly affects tuning and box volume (totally not noticable i'd think). other than some minor cracks it's solid and doesn't flex

oh and it's for sale lol

kicker should not even allow these things to be sealed, the only type of music where the sealed app MIGHT have had the edge is with drum kicks in rock and stuff but it still sounds good. i can finally hear the lows. i'm never getting a sealed anything again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

how about using less screws. you shouldnt put screws in at the edge like that. and it looks as if you did NOT predrill your holes.

no predrill + hole every inch = crack down the entire board.

i think if you did that, your box is not as sturdy as it should be. a screw every 4" or so works fine. but you NEED to predrill man.

otherwise, good box. does it get loud?

that db chart is purely theoretical. that increase would be in a prime acoustic environment.
yea i know but even at that, i still think it's definitely more than 3db louder (even though i have no mic experience lol). i told pretty much all my friends i got new subs, some i told i got a fifteen and ported it, some others i said i got a couple twelves. they all listened and were impressed, surprised even more once i popped the trunk.

req: it's a shitload of screws but hell, with our "precise" cuts we really needed it to seal the gaps. and yes i predrilled, see the lines? and yes...it gets f*ckin loud. i WAS gonna just toss my whole setup and start over, new subs and amp etc etc but i figured i'd try porting it first. now it's safe to say i won't be doing much to my car audio for a while

jazn, saugus is a journey, believe me lol. of course i wouldnt mind going again cuz i do owe supa some burritos.
