Box ideas?

Im looking to get a little tighter bass and added suspension for my sub. Sub spec said 4-8 cube. Im at 6.5. would a smaller box achieve this? will my power handling seem higher?

I work at a wood shop so we have everykind of board imaginable, we got like a super mdf thats crazy expensive. What thickness should I use? we have 5/8, 3/4", 7/8, 1",1-1/8"
