Box idea, what u guys think???

my mustang obviously has a small trunk opening (its a mustang for god sake) and my plan is to make two "half boxes". u know....a full box missing one side. so i can get the both of em in, and then push them together. my question is,, when i go to pus them together im gunna have some biscuit joints already cut in the wood and all that. if i would glue the edge + biscuit joints, should i be safe with being sealed/strong enuff. it WILL be ported so thats another thing to keep in mind. the compression inside the box wont be nearly as high as sealed.

im thinking of angleing the front face to fire to the top corner of my trunk lid, and then have the port extend past that vertically, i will draw something up in paint to give u guys something to look at. i would LOVE some help with making this work if possible.

would 46.5 sq inches of port be too much for one rl-p 15

yea, but how does making the port vertical save space?

EDIT: didnt look at a the pic closely, hes doing one of those weird wedge boxes. the regular wedges are easy to port without having to make the port vertical like that.

You may want to try sealing the peices together with weatherstripping, that is what I was gonna do (maybe) to make my new box somewhat removeable...

Like I said before...........

 

I would glue the joints together, let it dry. Then go over the joint inside with some resin/filler mix to be sure it doesn't come apart.

 

And I am not a fan of your port drawing.

Why not make it easier on yourself and do 2 round 4" ports up tp the rear deck? Probally have to trim a small amount of metal, but it should be simple.

really it wouldnt be trimming metal and all.....i would just take out my rear fill. they are just 6x9's anyways. i just kinda liked the look LOL and i dont wanna cut into my car cuz its brand new. just figured this was a little easier, but i could do your way when i get componants :mmmmmmm: componants!

basically the same thing as dborn said, but put weather stripping all over and connect the 2 peices....you need to be real careful with holes though
