box help for dd9518

current box: 44x19x20, 8.5 inch aero 14 inches long at 33 i think. for dd9518

old box 45x19x20 6 inch L port at 33hz for fi btl 18

amp: 2krms at 2 ohm, with the fi i had it at 1. now its at 2 with the dd

problem:

seems like old box an sub are just a tiny bit louder, should i build another box or what. polyfill? 45s in the corners? does the sub need more powah?

Old setup was probably louder since you had more power going to it

Give the full box specs. 6 inches of port area? What 3 inches by 2 inches? No wonder the aero seemed way louder! Lol your port area is definitely the problem and maybe the tuning.

does the dd need more power? im thinkin its the box cuz it was my 1st aero job. an the L port box was made by the re calc. ill test my old box with the dd later 2day or 2maro an post results of what one i think was louder. my rear view never lies lol. with the fi it never stayed up, now its up. might be cuz it was without beat for like 2 weeks an it got back tight but the fi always made it point down

a calculator is based on the dimensions you put in. So that means the tuning might be right, but the port area is way too small if it's 6". That's horrible.

i dont feel like dong math but i would do around 6cuft net 38HZ should be nice in my experience with areos i didn't see really any gains using them over slot ports.

dern. well im going to try to make sure there arent any air gaps in the box an put a lil bit of polyfill in it an it its still not louder then im buinding a diff box with the old specs an 38hz is high i want low 30s. it has good 35hz an up but the low 30s is lacking a bit. is that just how DDs are?

dd weird they like higher tuning can tune lower like 35 but not lower IMO it defeates the purpose of a spl sub should maybe went with a sub that likes low tunning like a sundown or dc audio sub

went through a whole shit storm the last few weeks. i found out why the box had no lows. the sub wasnt even sealed in the box the screws were too small to fill the hole so it was held in by the gasket it was whistling and farting. aka no low notes what so ever. so i took the gasket off an put washers with the screws an used sealant around the sub and TADA!!!!! low notes are back. the new box is 44 wide, 20 deep, and 19 tall. inside is 7.9 or so before displacement i figure that to be .7 cuft. so 7.2 ft with a 8.5 diameter aero port and the port is 14 inches long, i also got a bigger amp 3000 watts rms. about how much louder should it be im figuring double the power = 2-3db gain so .5db?? lol i kno my math sucks. im not really sure what its tuned at so could you guys help me im not good with sub calculators an such

how loud were you? ive doubled power before and seen like a .3-1db gain. if you were real low you will see better results.

it just seems a lil louder to the ear, like everybody that has heard it say its super loud an covers their ears an say stuff like how can u have it that loud but i guess im getting use to it. so its normal for it not to go up in vol alot jumping from 2k to 3k?
