Box for VFL8D4, 8' american bass

So ive been looking around to get dimensions and info to make the right box, but I have some questions and looking for box recommendations.

First off, the sub calls for .65 - 1.00 cubic foot of space, my question with this is: does that take into consideration the sub displacement? or do I need to make a box bigger then 1.00 to take into account the area the sub will take up?

im also new to tuning a box using ports. how would this sub sound in a sealed enclosure? if my best bet is to go ported I will but not to keen on making a ported box.

if ported, what size(diameter) and how long? or do I integrate the port into the box (rectangle, wooden) where would I purchase external port material?

all said and done, I plan to mount this box under my back dash board, with a cutout in the dash for the sub to fit in.
