Box design for cvr 15 help

Building box for my friend Ported tuned to 33 hz. Sub top mounted with port out the side. My question is will a top mounted sub with a port out the side and sound ok? and will the box with 3.9 overall cubic feet of volume sound ok with 8.8 cubic feet of free space around it along with the rear speakers in the rear deck work?

Sub up, port side will work okay.

When you get into considering the remaining volume of airspace in the trunk, you're starting to get into the territory of designing a bandpass using the rest of the trunk as one chamber, which can in some cases yield incredible results.

Depending on the type of vehicle, your objectives, and whether porting through the rear deck and/or armrest is an option, this may be a good possibility for you.
