In most cases i do agree with you and I have even bought some tools that way. However, if you only plan to build a box here or their for you and maybe a friend or two that is fine.. If you plan to do more, then I would go new every time. Cutting MDF takes a huge toll on tools and I would rather have a warranty and know what that tool has been through then playing the guessing game.
