Alright, i have a tough one. I have a dodge intrepid, and the speaker shelf hangs pretty low. It gives me 14.5" between the floor and the bottom of the shelf. I just bought an idq 15 which has the specs here:

http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/spec.php?type=encspec&id=IDQ15D2%20V.2

I wanted to do about 2.5 cuft gross with a 4" port like they recommend. That isn't one of the three choices, so about how long should the port be? I am fairly sure about the round port since it takes up so much less space than a slot port, and the idq isn't a rediculously high excursion driver.

The biggest challenge is fitting a 15 in the aforementioned space. What i thought is that i could have the box come out a little in front of the shelf, and then double the face so i have a little more room for the speaker to taper in. The cutout is less than 14" so this should work. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

i like a wedge with the woofer shooting at about a 45 degree angle towards the trunk or even more shallow if needed. It would look kinda like

............________

...........|.............\

front.....|________|......rear of car

(The "." are just to separate. Look at the solid lines.)

the port could be underneath the woofer, which keeps everything nice and rectangular.

I think you should have gotten a 12" or even 2 12's instead of one 15".

I also have an intrepid, My box houses 2 powerbass m12's, Before displacements its 4.8^cu. ft. internal volume, and about 4.2 after displacements, It is as high as the rear 6x9's well let me have it, and 21 inches deep and the full width of the trunk between the wheel wells, something like 37" if i remember right, you can fit a big enough box no problem. Though it may have to be tapered to be able to accept a 15" sub.

BLD 25,

I can easily design a wedge box to work with your setup. If you have the space. IE, How far does the speak ershelf protrude back? Does it incline up allow the wedge to be built and if it is done will you be able to get it in the trunk.

If so, send the measurments and I put together a design for you.

rpfor, my deal on the 15 fell through, but i might still get one. I will let you know. Don't forget to add me as a reference for the box i bought from you a few months ago!

Of topic, I have a set of Fi 12's that I might part with (one or both).
