the tinsels are woven into the spider and go into the screws at the T joint. then the screws transfer into the coil.

You can still do the cutout with a router, you just need to make a jig.
Ive been working with this sub as well. I finally got to listen to it today and I have to say that it is indeed very fast to respond. It seems to be pretty accurate and IMO it really sounds great. Its bein powered by a Boston GT-24 amplifier bridged.

Hey Moe .... We found out through experimentation that you are NOT using enough power for them to sound best. Those amps will do just fine on that sub.

Never said that wouldn't work .... Only that it would not be enough to allow the sub to sound up to it's potential. I know , I tested three amps on it.

Sound is subjective to each listener ..... I always hear the lack of fast and accurate toned SQ in ANY of the huge excursion subs that also tout SQ as their strength. I also always hear really great SQ subs that DO change their tonality and control at REALLY high SPL levels ..... In other words , regardless of what the manufacturers say , I have not heard even one sub do both SPL and SQ equally well ..... This Boston sub is the first one that actually does both equally well enough that i would be happy owning it for EITHER purpose.

I went with sealed due to wanting to see just how tight the sub would be able to play with that HUGE surround and long excursion. Once i heard it though , I realized that gaining any extra output with a ported enclosure would just be stupid loud unless I was competiting with Burps .. HTH
