i have 04 rsx type s, and it come stock with 6 or 8 speaker (cant remeber off hand) bose components. My friend claims some or most HU's wont hook up to these components, and im asking is this tru, and what HU's do u recomend to use with these and subs, im just trying to see if i can save cash here, beacuase those sound good to me. thanks

Bose speakers kick the ***, but yeah, you hafta bypass their amp(s).

I recently in my audi, had stock bose speakers, fed 150 watts RMS each, and it sounded unreal. Very very very good. I was torn between stock bose, and XR's. Mine are 2ohm though... figure out what the impedence is, and go from there. You would notice a bigger improvement in sound, by adding a speaker amp, than you would with a head unit. I'd do both at once, if you can.

BOSE stands for buy othe stereo equipment. You cant really work with the stock bose crap. I had to completly remove all bose components from my Millenia so I could get the sound and equipment i wanted. I say take it all out and get a decent setup in there.

either rewire and re speaker ur whole car= ***** and mucho money..........or use a line out converter which is 30 dollars like i did and it sounds awsome, but not as good as with an aftrmkt hu.

Well dont give up on the bose so quickly guys. Check the impedence... if it will work with your HU or amp, then go for it. Might have to re-wire the car... boo effin hoo.

They are stellar speakers! If you can retain them, then do so. I wish you could have heard my bose speakers, powered by my 450/4. It'd make you think twice before tossing them.

shit man....rewire a new car ****.... but ya any one know how to by pass the amps... plus any one have a recommendation for HU with these bose, or will it not matter once i bypass?

My stock 4.5" Bose sound good...but whatever. My dad's old A6's BOSE sounded badass but nothing compared to my dad's new 545i w the H/K System //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif but BOSE makes good stuff dont get me wrong...

"For what they are"...I guess, although for what they cost you could do a lot better. I always get a chuckle out of their HT systems. If you're in the market for a glorified PC-audio-in-a-box system, I guess Bose fits the bill.
