No, its not because its old, its because its a POS plain and simple. If you were to hear a real system with a real sub you would never again say that Bose system sounds good.
The Wave Radio and their other portable do actually sound pretty good, especially for what they are, but the Wave Radio is like $400+ and that oother thing is like $1000, not worth it.
Except JL actually has good products, just overpriced. They are technically innovative and high quality, Bose is neither.
yeah protable dock is like 400. if it was 200 id get it. coz i really liked the sound.

A mic would show it is struggling before 35 I'm sure. And the rest of the system struggles with midbass as well.
Then buy cheaper small form factor systems for much less with the same performance. Don't buy marketing.just like one member said.some people just dont want huge speaker's in the living room area not only that some people have no clue on how to put together a somewhat "good" home thater system.. so they go pick up a bose system

For good reason too. Marketing is all they do. They are the Apple of the audio world, except they don't make any good products.
Well, i disagree with the any good product statement, their radios are good and I do like there headphones, but they are overpriced by at least 50%. Other than those products, they don't have anything good.
