Not that I haven't been guilty of this at some late night or another way back when...

But I think now that I've been involved for a while, I am concerned when I hear about noise ordinances. Or maybe I'm just getting older, and I'm embarassed what the neighbors would think of me, or I just don't want the hassle of an argument with the authorities that I'd be in no position to win...

I don't know what it is...

But I have a house in an ultra-quiet suburban neighborhood (the street has a median, and I'm on the corner of a street that's only 1 block long). But... still there's actually TWO kids in the neighborhood who drive through the neighborhood, loud as they can get. And it's **** annoying.

And it's not even impressive... the car drives by, and you can hear as much buzzing of panels as you can bass. And it's not incidental with his music, he's just booming bass CD's, all the time. In a suburb.

Now, I'm all about cruising... we live quite near Niagara Falls here... I used to go up to the Clifton Hill cruising spot, and try to blow OTHER people's windows out.

Hell, I don't find it inappropriate to strut your stuff down a main boulevard (and I do it quite regularly!)...

But I don't get it.. driving through a suburb? Who's he trying to impress?

I'm 21 and share the same views as you. Ignorance breeds idiocy. Since they aren't bothered by it, and haven't the foggiest idea to be greatful for where they are situated, it's my thought that they simply cannot percieve what it's like to not be 17. Main drag showing off is fine, as you stated. I do it on occasion, as I'm sure most do. If they weren't such shitty cars, a set of keys on paint send a nice message.

I'm 23 and feel the same way.....the only person you need to please with your system is yourself. There's no sense in blasting your system as loud as possible to look "cool". If you feel the need to impress others to support your fragile ego, you should be spending your money on a therapist, not on subwoofers.

I agree but I dont let it bother me. Just think about it if you let one or two kids blaring their systems for lets say at most 15 seconds then what else bothers you too? I just think that this forum is a little bit up tight when it comes to me bickering and people that say they want other cars to shake, because after they say that then the forum jumps on them for disturibing the peace. Also you are only 16 once and its just like when you got your first driver's license you want to go fast or the guy at the light keeps nudging up then you race, you only live once so make the best of it while your here. i'm 17, but hell my brothers done all the bumpin for me, shi* and i'm black live in a black neighborhood, and late at night, all you hear is bass, so around my neighborhood it's no big thing, but i do turn it down before i turn into my drive way so i won't bother my neighbors, but fu** the people that live down the street that i just passed

I to hate it when people drive by my house (like 3 lil punk kids different races) blaring their lil 6.5's for all they're worth with maybe a tired punked out 10 in a sealed box distorting its *** off on the trunk with no sound deadener....awful sound...and it seams they always sit at the stop sign for an extended period and try their best to blast off, possibly just cause i'm outside and they are trying to "show off for me" its awful...my friends and I get a good laugh from most of them...sometimes is just a **** shame.

That's not it at all.. they certainly aren't waiting until they are just in front of MY house then turning it up for 15 seconds...
I'm planted far enough into the suburbs that it's a few minutes of driving just to get to a street without stop signs, with stoplights and actual traffic...

So if they are blazing by at 140+dB, they've driven by a LOT of houses, disturbing a LOT of people, for a LONG time.

It's just a matter of consideration.

It's not very much different than if you took a Quad down the sidewalk and refused to either slow down or get out of anyone's way who was also on the sidewalk, as if you felt entitled to the sidewalk, that you owned it...

Pedestrians, couples out for a peaceful walk, mothers with children in strollers, schoolkids in bicycles.. just running over, slamming into, or knocking down anyone and anything in your way without a comment.

Is it really much different?

At any rate, I'm sure if you were driving anything - or even walking - down a sidewalk, you'd be considerate of people, giving oncoming traffic their side, generally being considerate.

I'm just hoping that people would want to show the same consideration for others, particularly during the evening hours.

Just curious, what do you think of driving through residential areas during the day with a system going? When I finally get mine set up after 9 oclock I will keep it down at a decent level.

I cannot drive yet. But when I do now and I have it up it kind of gets old. Its alright but just all that vibration and movement and everything. Sometimes I get headaches.
