Boomin Cars?? A$$HATS like this give us a bad name....UNITE!!

Agreed.. My parents ride. My dad has told me that his loud pipes have saved his and my step-moms life on more than one occasion.
hmmm i would like to see some proof...

i thought the loud pipes were suppose to let someone know you where there? but, they "saved" his life so....

they didnt do thier job at letting someone know he was there...because they obviouly almost hit him...

To the Harley guy: Your rights end where my nose (and ears) begin. Those overly loud bikes make more noise than a siren and me being a vet and all, those noises really get on my nerves. Take responsibility and respect your fellow humans by riding extra-carefully without annoying the rest of us.

To the bump-n-thumps: BOOM-BOOM-BOOM doesn't win friends when done in the wrong places. I'm glad some members of the audio community know when it's right to make some noise and when it isn't. I like my music as much as the next guy but I'm not going to shove it in other's faces. It's called common consideration, which seems to be a missing ingredient in some people.

Now if you want LOUD, as in "you could not hear yourself scream LOUD", try driving under a KC-135 that is on full throttle after just achieving liftoff...LOL! They're louder than a B-52 or anything else I have heard!

You know just as well as anyone else that there are numerous possibilities of what can happen out on the roads.. to believe otherwise you are a fool.

at times i feel the same as you and at other times i dont. the harley guys dont bother me. i tolerate it cause i know its gotta be fun.

only time i ever complain about the harley guys is when the audio guys get the short end of the stick. i see it, that all people need to chill the **** out sometimes.

you shouldnt be obnoxious in residential areas, you shouldnt be obnoxious in public areas. applies to all things really IMO.

the guy in the video is an idiot, hence why these days, when i hear a stereo, i wont even look in that direction cause i know some of these retards pop a woody when someone looks. taking a 2nd look at the guy in the video, you can probably tell why he's an attention ***** (being the nerdy *** guy in school, he is definitely going to try to make up for with his sweet system...)

so what is this possibility?

i really dont see how the noise making exhaust thats suppose to warn other people you are there...is making it so that your mom/dad have to high tail it out of the way of another car...on numerous occasions.

my reasoning, is if your mom and dad have almost been killed a couple of times...is the loud pipe really working?

i have nothing against loud motorcycles. they annoy the hell out of me at times, but i just tolerate it, because that is that persons idea of fun. i just dont see the "loud pipes save lives" arugement as anything else than a really weak excuse.

so how exactly did the loud pipe keep them alive? i dont think you are understanding what im getting at.

1) if they had to swerve away from a vehicle, then the loud pipe didnt do what it "supposed" to do because the operater of the car obviously didnt see them. the only thing that saved their lives, is their own quick actions.

2) if the loud pipes made enough noise as to keep someone from swerving into them, how do they know it was the loud pipes in the first place?

Ill chime in.

My mother started to ride her own bike not too long ago. She was cutt off on numerious occations to the point where she even had to ditch the bike once. VERY scary for my father and I.

After this happening for the third time we removed one of the two baffles on her old bike allowing more noise. Since that day, over 2 years ago, she has not had a single person move over on her.

Now, you can say its from this or that or luck or whatever...I believe that its from the noise of the pipes.

You see, when you ride you should be more worried about everyone else around you then yourself in all honesty. You have unrestricted 360 range of view. Cars do not and the small size of the bike could easily fit in a blind spot.

Loud pipes are not something that a person driving in a car hears 100% fo the time so its a warning sign of sorts.

i can buy that.

psychos reasoning, seems a little different though. you are admitting, you are using deductive reasoning to say that IYO, the louder exhaust helps. psychos stories seem to be suggestig that his parents were almost killed, and some how the pipes saves their lives.

now i could be assuming, in which case sorry, but thats what your (psycho) posts are hinting at.

ps: i dont think there is a necessity for some of these bikes to go to their extremes though. when im blasting my system at max....on the freeway...with windows down...and a bikes exhaust still shreds through my ear drum, thats too loud IMO. but again, who am i to tell someone how to have their fun? it only lasts for .5 seconds

Okay, I'll give one example. Guy on a motor cycle is stopped at a red light on the bottom of a hill. A guy in a car is driving in the same direction on the other side of said hill, traveling well above the speed limit.. Say this guy is smoking a cigarette, drops cigarette, is now looking for said cigarette. Guy on motor cycle notices guy in car is not slowing down, so he/she rev's the engine, guy in car hears loud pipes and slams on brakes..

How does loud pipes save lives? By making an optional activity safer ONLY to the one participating in said activity at the EXPENSE of the peace and quiet of others.

No one is required to ride a motorcycle.
