Well, Im going to be moving and going to college in FL at the end of the school year. Ive been down there on vacation many times but never picked up on any of the stuff to do or who has what. To start out, Ill be in the Orlando or Sarasota area.

My first question is who is the popular cell phone company down there? My 2year contract is up with Verizon and have the choice for $100 towards a new phone. Thats why Im asking who is best Cellphone company?

2nd- I see the temp in the "winter" and it seems alot better than here in NJ, would I still want to keep all my hoodies after I adjust to it?

3rd- Whats the local entertianment like really?

4th- I dont want to start any racial or living arguments but what are the common known "bad areas". The county Im from really is pretty safe. I got lost down there and Im not use to the culture I guess you could say so I wasnt sure what was fair or bad. I asked for directions at some Quickmart and I felt like I was in some movie clip from Barber Shop.

Ill have some more questions soon Im sure so Thanks to all those FL residents that help out or anyone that knows about FL.

btw I am thinking of moving to florida also .. own a condo in titusville but will probably move to melbourne which has both good and bad areas (as most places do)

the thing with florida is there is a lot of white trash also, I would not want to live in a ghetto hood shithole just as much as I would not want to live near a bunch of redneck trailer parks which there are a lot of.

Why not wikipedia the town you are moving to and get the demographics for the town?
You could also PM fatryan and ask for this years 'KKK: Places not to live' list.
I never thought of that. But Not sure yet what town, Just wondering the general information. Im not trying to be racist or anything, Just Northern Jersey is really Ive learned nothing like the south.

Thats exactly what I was trying to say.

I lived in Naples for 15years, Orlando for 2 and brief stints pretty much all over the state. I hated it for the longest time but it grows on ya. Orlando is decent depending on where you live at. Dont go near Orange blossum trail. Its basicly a MLK blvd. Orlando has some great night life given the fact the whole town is based around UCF. lost of shit to do if you live off Semoran or around that area. But like any place if you're there for a long time you'll start to get bored with it as well. Keep you hoodies it still gets pretty **** cold.

Edit: your best bet is cingular or I guess AT&T for service. TDMA dominates the florida market. ATT has more cell towers than any other company in florida. I worked in telecommunications for 6 years in fla. Just my .02

Make sure you go and scope out Florida first.. I am not really hot on in as the hurricanes, lots of rednecks and just in general I guess I am used to living in the north (Boston)

I would probably not be moving there if my dad did not live there due to these factors but there is also a lot of good such as nice weather most of the year (will be able to own a sports car or bagged truck), auto insurance is cheaper, your money per house goes further (compare 250k in boston burbs to 250k in most areas of florida), lots of things to do we miss out on up north (disney, mgm, car shows etc), beaches 365 days a year and so on.

You also need to remember they pay less down there from what I have been told and my father has said a lot of things such as food seem to be more expensive (could just be where he lives) and also taxes used to be cheap but have gone way up in the years (mainly property tax) so it is getting close if not the same to here (though I think NJ may even be higher than MA now)

You are going to school so IMO if I were looking for somewhere to spend the next few years of my life partying and looking to bang hot chicks I think FL > northeast.

As I mentioned before there are a lot of rednecks also and tons of mexicans (doing cheap labor) compared to what we see up here.

The mom is going down there soon to look at places and areas with the realator so hopefully its a cool area. We dont have much car shows and all that jazz in NJ, mostly like small things of everything but not much

Yeah thats mainly why my mom wants to move, Shes been retired for some time and wants to work at WDW for fun, I dont see totally how working is fun when your retired but I guess Ill learn.

i live in florida, and it sucks... 19 years here... ok so your best bets on cell phones is verizon, tmobile or ATT... And you will never need a sweater, if its cold I usually wear a long sleeve..

Verizon is also a pretty strong presence in the cell market in FLA also. If you dont want to go through the hassle of switching you can try out verizon at first.

If ya got the GPS go head out and start driving. Most of the city is laid out like a grid so its real hard to get lost. Tons of girls... slutty girls by the way. Pretty much what you can expect from a college town. and you'll only be about 2-3 hours from daytona.

At my ghetto school every one likes metro lol.

35 a mounth unlimited every thing. But I'll stick with t mobile

A good place for car shows is old town every thursday friday saturday nights

thursday-Bike Night

friday-73 and later cars

saturday 73 and earlier cars
