Bolt box directly to floor or put foam under first?

Wondering what you guys would suggest. I just tore out everything from the back of my jeep and laying down a few layers of deadener.

Would it be best to bolt the sub box straight to the floor? Would that produce more rattles?

Or would it be best to put down a few layers of ensolite or even thicker foam to somewhat isolate the box from my trucks frame?

Direct bolting a box to a floor will transfer energy more but it may just rattle anyways. I always go to a home depot and buy one of those rubber entrance mats that are rubber and have fiber on the top. I use 3M glue to stick the rubber side to the box so the fibers are against the vehicle floor. Works very well I then use 5" L bracket to bolt the box down.

You want to transfer as much energy to the chassis as possible. The very lowest frequencues are inaudible, but their presence is definitely felt. If you decouple your speaker box from the vehicle, you will reduce your sub's perceived low-end output.

drop the tank and use short bolts w/ nuts/washers.

yeah im kinda curious on this matter myself, i just bought some damp pro from nismo 14 and will be doing my trunk and wanted to bolt my box down cause as it it it jumps all over the place and the bottom is getting all scruffed up. but i been worried about the box bolt location... and the method to bolt it down as well... im guessing L brackets and some bolts?

locate the gas tank first. then use either l-brackets, or just bolt it down thru the bottom of the box.

If it's a Wrangler, you could easily bolt into the holes for the seat brackets. They are Metric bolts, but easy to find in a variety of lengths.

If you do hit the gas tank...your sub box will no longer be an issue...lol.
