Welding is a short. You ground the welding machine to the frame, then a positive charge is place in a spot. The metal gets hot and fuses. If the battery is not disconnected, its getting a positive charge to ground......Just like when your power wire shorts, it blows a fuse. Well since the battery could have still been connect and there is no fuse, it ruins the battery. Batteries must be disconnected when welding on a car or it will ruin them. Like I said before, I know a wet cell will boil and 9 times out of 10, the battery is junk. Your dry cell is probably toasted, but I don't know the signs. However a bad battery will not charge. Hope that helps.Questions:
1. If the battery is connected while theyre doing any welding on the rear floor, would that cause a short circuit or just cause the battery to become defective?
2. Does the battery HAVE to be disconnected?
3. Is it anyway possible, that they can do something where the battery is connected, to a machine or whatever it may be, and they do welding at the same time, and it not damage the battery?
If anyone can really help me out, I need to know before I head out of work in about 4 hours. I'm not gonna talk out my *** like they have, I want to be positive of something before I mention it to them. Thanks.
