Body shop trying to SCREW ME!!! Help!

oh rite, u don't wanna go to anger management once mogain. Mayb u should contact ur insurance company and tell them to withold payment or negotiate to only have to pay a fraction to that shop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

So i call the shop and they said it was completely dead. I dont get why they didnt full charge it yesterday and gave it to me half-assed. Anyway, they said its up to 6V right now (its been 4 hours since they started charging it supposedly). They'll have the car ready tomorrow since they are doing additional detailing and touching up taht they screwed up on.

My concern is, i get the car back, everything is fine, but worst case sceneario, a few days down the line or even weeks down the line im getting sick voltage drops, not charging properly, etc...when before it was fine, i'm (or the lawyer) will go after them.

My question now is: How long would it take to fully charge an HC 1400 if it's is dead....

Oh, and I called up Kinetik and they said only reason they can think of for it not working is overcharging or using a cheap charger. I told that to the body shop and they said they wouldn't overcharge it because they have a, get this..."state of the art charger that turns the machine off when it reaches the right voltage". WoW, I dont need a **** machine to tell me when the battery is charged, all I need is a $10 DMM

LOL! @ battery charger. Dude your getting screwed, I bet you they forgot to disconnect the battery and did some welding. Body shops are retarded. The one I worked for wasn't that bad....your car would have been done in about 2 weeks there. ***** at them a ton about the battery, in fact, demand to speak with the owner, chances are, they'll buy you a new one. Threaten with a lawyer and the BBB if you can. They'll give in.

EDIT: The battery charger we had was 5 years old and did not shut off when the battery was charged......and it was a decent dealership.

Yeah, if its not working properly, if I'M not satisfied, i'll tell them to bring me the owner, i'll have my laywer talk to them, ill have them go to AAA, and the BBB is also a good idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And they were doing some welding when i went to take out my HU, but the battery was already disconnected, but who knows if they didnt disconnect before. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. I mean last time my car (different one) was there, took 1 week. If the guy i'm talkin to right now gives me anymore shit I'm done dealin with him. Thanks for the advice though.

but if that battery works then it probably is the battery under the hood right?? so then they would be correct try it then if the other battery works then try putting the old one back in there and see if it works but rind terminals would not cause your batt to mess up

Yeah, but theyre trying to say the battery is messed up because of the accident, my point is i dont see how thats possible if it worked fine after the accident and even while they had it. At some point during the time they had it, it just stopped working. Thats the problem i have with the claim he is making...if after the accident the battery wasnt working then yeah, its due to the accident, this i highly doubt it is because of the accident.

My dad's gonna go to them tomorrow since I'll be working. I'll see whappens. But I think i will tell them to get me a new battery, because even if it was because of the accident like they are saying, well they should fix anything wrong with the car due to the accident.

just piss and moan like an impotent jerk, then bend over and take it up the tailpipe
*$1 in paypal to the first person who PMs me with the movie that line is from*
liar liar

whoops, im quite late i see. good movie though.

Update: Theres a bunch of more crap that has gone on, I'm really frustrated, I got my laywer involved and my insurance company and now the body shop is trying to make me look like the bad guy. I can care less, I have every right to be upset. I've gotten three excuses why my battery isnt working now.

1. It sat without power for 1 month

2. Something during the accident could have caused something to make it defective

3. It was defective before I brought it in.

My points and these are FACTS:

1. Battery worked fine when I brought it in

2. Battery was used a good week after the accident and WHILE in their possession but one day stopped working.

3. My stock battery that has not been used for 4 or 5 months has a charge of 12.6V as of last night, but my HC 1400 thats is fu*cked up right now has no charge after 1 month??

My assumption:

Battery was connected while they did welding on the rear floor.

Questions:

1. If the battery is connected while theyre doing any welding on the rear floor, would that cause a short circuit or just cause the battery to become defective?

2. Does the battery HAVE to be disconnected?

3. Is it anyway possible, that they can do something where the battery is connected, to a machine or whatever it may be, and they do welding at the same time, and it not damage the battery?

If anyone can really help me out, I need to know before I head out of work in about 4 hours. I'm not gonna talk out my *** like they have, I want to be positive of something before I mention it to them. Thanks.
