has anyone installed a radio in a boat b4? I just want to put a hu in and maybe xpand later. Do I have to buy a wiring harness? and if so where would I be able to get one? Do they need yr, mk, and model of the boat I need complete instructions due to inexperience...btw I did a search and no situation was close to mine (no info) any feed back would be very helpful!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

did a boat install this weekend on a stingray:D. premier 580, ample audio 5 channel, single comp vr 12", and 4 jbl marine 6.5"s. sounds quite nice. as for the install it's really easy just make sure you get a bigger battery if you plan on adding anything.

Boats are usually extremely easy because most of the wiring is usually exposed and easy to work with. I recently replaced an only cassette deck in my boat with a cd player, very easy. It all depends on what the CD player you have comes with, most come with wiring harnesses, then its simply hooking up those wires to the speakers, an ignition and battery, and the radio.

it's actually about 10 times easier as you don't have as small a space nor dick with removing panels. the radio took about 20 minutes to do, the amp, speakers and sub took about the same lol. i think we spent about an hour and a half on it, had to keep grabbing beer's;).

just wire it up as you would from scratch. boat installs are easy, but getting the most out of you product in a boat is tough. a good car installer wont know the slightest bit about how sound works in a boat.

as a side note, i just went to a wakeboard boat show this weekend and it had all audio sponsors. like a giant boat audio show. crazy stuff. $25k systems and what not.

easy huh ya right lawl. not while you running wires threw huge towers and threw the whole cabin on a 70 foot searay. but my 26 foot was fairly easy
pulling wire through a tower isnt fun, especially when you run wires for you tower lights as well. i dont know what kind of towers you are talking about, but wakeboard towers are about 3" in diameter and pulling mulitple stands through a gromet and making that clean sucks. especially taking into consideration that the tower might have to be collapsed one day.

yep wires on a wakeboarding tower= the suxor. glad i did the amp to battery, and deck and sub lol. my buddy kept cursing all i heard was f this and f that and f'ing carl (brother's boat and carl is the brother lol), then hand me another shiner. after the shiner we were good to go:).

i did all of our boats, but out new one i did some of it myself, but i let my zapco dealer who does zapco sponsored boats for them do mine. awesome work. he just did three more including his own and his onlyt other worker in the shop. both are brand new 05 super air nautiques that havent even been in the water yet. one has baout 10g's worth of stuff and the other two including his own are getting like 30g's worth of work done. he is the best fiberglass guy around northern cali, by far. arguably the best boat guy around.
