I have a pioneer avh 501ex headunit. I find it frustrating that I have to set the volume of my phone and set the volume of the headunit separately. I feel like I'm probably clipping my speakers because my phone volume is usually at like 75-80% some tracks If I turn my phone up they sound better, and others sound better if I turn the head unit up instead of the phone. I feel like there's no good way to perfectly tune amps by ear with these two volume variables and a wireless Bluetooth signal. Super frustrating. Anyway, since this is an older head unit, I would be definitely consider upgrading to something that completely takes over volume control so I'm not messing with both devices. Looking at a jansen car1000 at crutchfueld right now. Anyone know if this a feature I can look for somewhere? I can't be the only one that's annoyed by this.

There are a couple of options. You can use a marine bt unit. They come in the size of a hockey puck and can mount anywhere. This is the marine unit.
