hey all, a buddy of mine has some low end subs, he has a circuity city warranty on em and he's trying 2 blow em so he can upgrade. i'm tryin 2 figure out a good way 2 do this without damaging his amp (ie. max gain, bass boost) and not makin it look 2 obvious that we were tryin 2 blow em (ie. wall socket).

my questions are.... how would b a good way 2 accomplish this?? and has ne one dealt with warrantees through circuit city?? do they test the product and what kinds of things will they cover??? thanx

We had a Cerwin Vega VMAX12 a while ago that had the tinsel lead come loose. We fixed it for the customer (the manufacturer would have done the same if we had sent it to them) and it broke yet again. We gave him a new one and soldered an extention lead to the tinsel lead and terminal. We headed to the install bay (away from the rest of the customers) and grabbed an old extention cord with the ends removed on one side. Plugged it in, and that bugger lasted for a minute and 15 seconds. I love doing that. We do it at our competitions all the time. Fun as hell!!!

get your hands on some three-phase industrial power...that'll blow those bastards before you have time to think, hehe. Also might have some unwanted side effects though...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

you guys got me going, i think i might blow up a Radio Shack 10" that I've had laying around here in a 1 gallon bucket. it's rated 200W RMS, my PG Tantrum with some heavy bass boost should take care of that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

To take the questions out of doing this: find an old cord, set a camera up, wire them *****es up, plug it in, enjoy, and send the pics to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i did that for a friend once....one of his bazooka subs blew, so he decided he wanted to blow the other one to just take em in and get 2 new ones. I told him to let me do the honors so i strapped my JBL 1200.1 to the poor thing and destroyed it. the thing was smoking all over the place and when i turned down the volume it just sort of sat there rattling. warranty covered it and he ended up getting a good amount of store credit and i told him spend a little extra and he got some Type R's instead.

just letting you know. curcuit city will test them so just tell them whatever, just dont tell them the truth, say something like...Look i hooked these up and turned them on and they blew

I blew my subs from CC so many times... I think like 7 times (in a 4-5 months) and everytime they replaced them. The last time I blew them I just acted pissed off, and they gave me my money back, CC is great at taking things back/swapping them out.
