Eclipse Aluminum Subs

I am posting this for my bro. He is currently looking into purchasing some subs and he got offered a REAL great deal on 12" Eclipse Aluminum 4ohm DVC. His question is, what amp do you folks recommend? He's looking to get a Mono Block amp and specs say 500rms and 1000max. His budget is $300.

he's getting two subs? so you need something that does full power at 1 or 4 ohms.

JBL 1200.1 comes to mind as probably the cheapest around, well around $220.

If he is just getting one Dual 4 ohm sub. I would run the coils parallel to achieve a 2 ohm load and get a mono class d amp.

I would recommend an MTX 6500d, 500d, or 801d for that sub.

They can get you the 500d for $225 shipped, I just got one for a friend.

I ran 2 Eclipse Aluminum 15's with a Memphis 1000d and they sounded excellent. The amp is a monoblock sub amp and pushed around 1100 wrms @ 1 ohm which is right about what those subs need since each sub is an easy 500 wrms. Sorry, i've just been hooked on Memphis products since i've began using them.

My aluminum cone 12 runs great off of one diamond audio 600.1 the sound quality is amazing.
