Blow Woofer. Install Error?

I purchased a Diamond D9 15" woofer and the Diamond 1000.1 amp. I'm pretty sure it was the D6, I dont remember, I know it was the all silver one, not the one with the black trim around the edges.

I took it to a local audio shop, where the installer was M.E.C.P. Master Certified, he made me a customer sealed box for $350.00 and installed the entire system. I used all MTX wires, 7 series RCA 0gauge blue power kit, StreetWire cap, etc.

I had the sub less that 1 month and it started shutting off, I noticed a sound drop after 2 weeks, but figured I was just getting used to it. Well, come to find out. My sub is blown. They it at 1ohm. Now. I haven't 'abused' the system AT ALL, and they are blaming the burnt coil on me listening to compressed audio.

I need a few other ideas of what it could be. I listened to a beat up Kicker Comp 15" for a YEAR! with NO problems, and the same cd's/music I'm listening to now.

So, could it be an install error? Could it be the amps fault? Is that normal for $750.00 woofers to collapse after 1 month of usage? I mean, know it will be covered by the warranty, but,... I have a gut feeling that it had more to do with bad-luck in woofer choice.

No no no. We stopped carrying Diamond at our store, so I got it close out. I spent $300 on the sub/amp together. I can sell car audio, but I have no business building a box. ..I shouldn't build a gingerbread house.

However, we stopped carrying Diamond long before I got here (it was recently found in the 1million square foot warehouse), so I'm not very familliar with that brand at all. I wasnt sure if it was the 1 ohm load that caused the woofer to shit. or if it could have been 'tuning'. if it really was the compressed audio. etc.

fail

1.65 @44 is what it was supposed to be. My biggest concern was the 1ohm.

The amp is supposed to do 1100 watts at 1ohm. I wasn't sure how Diamond amps do at 1ohm.

the box is a sealed box no tuning problem but i bet the gains are all out of wack and the sub was just pushed far too hard and it burnt the coils it happens the installer has to know what he is doing and evidentally he didnt they are responsible but goodluck getting shit from them they evidentally dont take pride and own up to their mistakes..

This is the type of answer I was looking for. Like I said, I'm new to the sales side. I'm completely foreign to the install side. I have heard a lot of amps can't take 1ohm stable even if rated for 1ohm. and wasn't sure if that could carry into the subwoofer.

Either way, I could believe that compressed audio can be hard on a system, but to shell a nice woofer in less than a month? Sucks. It sounded like our install guys are just looking for a reason for it to not be an error on their end. ...thanks for the help.

Ive never heard this. Now a person cranking the bass boost turning up the bass and such i can see it doing dmg. But ive never heard of compressed audio doing dmg to a speaker.

If this is true someone confirm cuase this sounds like complete and utter BS to me.
