blew 2 12 inch type rs

I was showing this guy my set up and I played it for him loud and my subs distorted and i turned it down but I must have blown them. there 2 alpine swr-1222ds powered by a alpine mrp-m1000. The subs still play but I can smell voice coil burning a little bit and they dont play very loud and they sound kind of sloppy. Alpines warranty information says that if you burn your voice coil up by over driving the subs they wont warranty it. So what do I do?

If you had your gains set right, you shouldnt have cooked them with that amp. I would say, learn to set gains, and not crank them past what they can handle, THEN buy new subs.

This. I have 900W going to my 700W worth of subs and they do fine, I just feel the dustcap after hard wangin' to make sure they aren't getting warm.

Im going to get them proffesionally tuned if i choose to buy more of them or i might just seel everything.

Same, I say get you some subs that you can recone if youre gonna be playin them too loud. You dont need to professionally tune them either just be careful

I ran a type r 12 on an american bass 200.1@2 ohms for a few months with no problems. They can take some power if you don't beat on em too bad.
