well if you do it right you dont get any whine, its all about your equipment and knowledge...throw the oem grills on the mids to protect them and give it a stock look. Also i got engine whine in the speakers when i ran the speaker wire next to the power wire. I moved it and it went away. Might get some the way u have it ran just letting u know my experience.
Why did u switch from the cdt comps to the id's and vc's???
How much power were u giving the cdts and what set was it?
and i dont remember what set they were, whatever it says on the first page is what i had. i bought them off a member brand new, and installed them and i just didnt like the tweeters, they just werent bright enough for my taste. they were pretty laid back and the mids had sort of a muffled sound.
i wanted to run active and definately didnt want to do it with the cdt's. so i picked up the oem's (my 4th pair, and i certainly love them. amazing sound and great midbass) and then the tweeters were 40$ shipped and you cant beat that ecspecially with all the great reviews i have heard about them.
i dont regret the switch a bit. i have always looked up to the oem's and these tweeters definately suit my audible likings.
overall for the money, i dont think you can get a better active front stage then the oem's and vc100's
