big3 problem

okay i just changed my negative to fender, and negative to block ground to 1 gauge wire (figured i'd start the car before getting to the alt to make sure everything worked) and my car has cold start which the motor will rev up high to warm the engine so when i started it with the 1/0 gauge cable it started much easier but it sounded like it was revving much higher then usual, so i put the factory cables back on and it was fine again, i tried kicking it down off of high idle too and it did the same thing, what should i do? car is 85 monte carlo with a 4.3 v6

I got the same car but the 305 8 cyl engine. I will take pix of mine today for you.

Add to not replace. I have 2/0 welding cable on mine with a H.O alt. I didn't hear or notice what you did. I did it with the factory alt on there too and it was still fine.

Wiring upgrades to your alternator and grounds that help keep from burning up alts and it also helps with light dimming...

you add extra wire from the battery to the alt

add extra wire from battery to the frame..

extra wire from battery to engine..

When doing the upgrade do you replace the existing wire or add to the existing? Also is it better to upgrade to the minimum that your amps need or just jump up to 1/0 gage?

just add 2, leave stock wires just upgradin

you shouldnt mess with your factory wires....only if you know what your doing...
