Big three on a 96 explorer

i need some help i cant seem to find the engine block to the chassis if any can help it would be welcomed. also is any one esle has done a big three on a 96 explorer did u use the same bat to chassis ground as the original.

Just make a new engine block to chassis if you can't find the old one.

What's wrong with using the original ground on the battery? You're just adding wire to it and sanding down the metal to provide less resistance.

Many people use the alternator mounting bracket as the block connection, and than go to chassis...

nuttin like straight line 'n it. Thats actually a good idea, grounding to the Alternator mount, JUST MAKE SURE you are able to route the wire away from any extreme heatsources or moving parts of the engine. It is important to upgrade the size of both the positive AND negative leads... Don't cause a bottle neck in your electrical system...read these threads for more info.

The factory ground is a 4 gauge that chains the frame to the passenger side of the motor, with a smaller body and computer ground. Then there are a bunch of ground straps interconnecting everything.

the only point of going larger on the motor to chassis ground is for a better alternator ground correct?
