one e12kx sub; recommended ported box volume = 1.5cuFt; recommended tuned freq: 26hz.
I don't like saying what sounds "better", but what can I expect from, for example, :
- a box 2.0 cuFt @ 20 something hz
versus
- a box 1.5 cuFt @ 30 something hz
Obviously the lower-tuned one will be able to go lower, but I don't want a box that gets crazy (in a bad way) cause the box is too big. I'm an SQ guy; gonna be pushing this one sub with 160W rms (bridged off a usx4065). The box I have now is 1cuFt sealed (the recommended volume from eD), however it's not installed. I wanna be able to experience a sealed box and a ported one. This is my first sub.
Also, keep in mind that the only time I've been in a car that had a sub was like in '93 (when I was in 3rd grade) and didn't know anything about what sounds good (I just know it was LOUD and I got out the car still shaking...)
