Big 3 Wire question??

There's a reason thousands of people and all the auto makers do alt + to Battery +, Battery- to motor and motor to chassis. I' am just saying...I also think that you might need an alt upgrade even at 800 rms.
thats because auto makers are not feeding high draw amps..... to them the engine block/head it fine and it is. but for hungry amp no... now in say that can you ground to engine block/head sure but you will get better flow going to the BACK NOT FRONT OF THE ALT. because the alt is grounded inside the back half.

 
80 amp alt. is good for about 600 to 800rms total. but that depends......

before i upgraded my alt. ( stock alt was 78amp, i rebuild it for 100amp) and with that 100amp running about 2,800rms total it was taxing the alt. now im useing a 200amp alt. and it does not drop lower then 14 volts.

 
no wonder you engine bay looked like my twin lol i got a 1990 c1500. thanks for the help man now i know exactly where to put everything an won't have doubts!
